Overtake!

オーバーテイク!

Genres:Drama
Three racing drivers carry helmets past open paddock tents, with mechanics working behind them.

Photographer Kouya meets Haruka, a teenage driver racing for a small family-run Formula 4 team. He decides to help, though Haruka resists the encouragement. Getting the car onto the grid requires sponsorship, mechanical work and trust, giving both a reason to accept help from other people.

Kouya's first visit to the team's office confronts him with costs far beyond what he expected to pay as a sponsor. A photography job at rival team Belsorriso then shows him how much money can go into developing a driver. The gap between the teams is already visible in their resources, before Haruka has to face anyone on track.

Komaki Motors is also a family workplace. Kotarou, the owner's son, is a skilled mechanic who has known Haruka since childhood; the two are close as brothers. The car sits among stacked tyres and tool drawers in their modest garage, tying Haruka's driving to the work and long acquaintance of the people preparing it.
