Iori Kitahara arrives in Izu for university and moves into his uncle’s diving shop, Grand Blue. He expects a new start beside the sea. Instead, the college diving club Peek a Boo pulls him into a social life dominated by drinking, stripping and increasingly absurd schemes.
Fellow student Kohei Imamura quickly becomes part of the same circle, while Iori’s cousin Chisa sees plenty of reasons to be unimpressed. Living above the shop makes it difficult to keep the club’s chaos away from home. The university fresh start becomes a matter of negotiating people who already have plans for him.

There is still an actual sea to enter. Early on, Iori and Kohei put on wetsuits and head into the water, despite Iori’s fear of it. Diving gives the unruly group something to do together beyond a drinking party, and makes his new surroundings a place he must learn to experience rather than simply admire from the shore.
