Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

葬送のフリーレン

A white-haired elf carrying a suitcase looks back at two companions in a flowering meadow.

After helping defeat the Demon King, the elf Frieren outlives companions whose ten-year adventure felt brief to her. She begins another journey with a new travelling party, revisiting places and memories she once passed over. Quiet conversations, everyday errands and dangerous magic make her pay closer attention to other people's lives.

Heiter asks Frieren to teach magic to Fern, an orphan living with him. Taking on a pupil gives the long-lived mage a responsibility to somebody whose future is still beginning. An early visit to a statue of Himmel also sends her looking for a flower he liked, making an ordinary errand a chance to act on a remembered preference.

Stark holds his axe beside a seated Frieren and a standing Fern in a cave filled with blue crystals.

A cave lined with magic-suppressing ore forces a different kind of problem on the travelling party. Frieren and Fern cannot cast there, and a monster interrupts their search for a way out. With Stark standing armed beside them, the scene makes the group’s mixture of fighters and mages immediately practical.
