Grid hopes success in the virtual-reality game Satisfy will pay his debts. A legendary blacksmith class gives him the ability to make exceptional equipment, but he still lacks money, materials and experience. This profile covers only the opening two episodes, where a crafting advantage meets impatience and practical costs.
An early setback leaves Grid at level minus three in a village surrounded by enemies around level one hundred. He cannot even afford a carriage out. Asking the blacksmith Smith for instruction brings him back to basic craft, with very little room for the easy money he expected his new class to provide.
Grid's first plans are grander than his resources. An enormous sword design stalls because he lacks materials; trying to join a high-level guild brings a demand to prove his fighting ability instead. Smith offers a less glamorous route through learning the craft. The humour comes from the distance between Grid's new legendary title and the elementary work he still needs to do.
