Thousands of years after a mysterious light turns humanity to stone, Senku wakes in a world without modern industry. The teenage science enthusiast joins forces with his tireless friend Taiju to experiment, build tools and find a way to revive other people.

The work depends on more than remembering an invention. Materials have to be found, equipment made and people recruited. In an early village project, a medicine requires a long chain of preparation. Chrome brings curiosity and local discoveries, while the craftsman Kaseki helps turn scientific knowledge into objects people can use.

Taiju stands in a forest clearing facing a wooden shelter raised beside an enormous tree.

The first shelter sits inside a landscape that has grown far beyond the people returning to it. A roof, a raised platform and a place to work give Senku and Taiju something immediate to build on. The contrast between the small structure and the surrounding trees makes the scale of their task visible before the ambitions become larger.
