In an Edo occupied by aliens, an unruly former samurai runs an odd-jobs business with companions whose daily work repeatedly collides with the city’s larger troubles.
Gintoki keeps the habits of a swordsman in a town of spacecraft, trains and changing values. The business gives the group a reason to move between ordinary requests and dangerous encounters. Its local scale makes room for jokes about earning a living alongside conflicts over what survives from an older way of life.

The trio’s street portrait places them among shops and an extended neighbourhood cast. The episode image brings the same central group forward against a more emphatic blue background. Their work begins with particular people in the city, even when the surrounding world is fantastically oversized.
