Wolf Children
おおかみこどもの雨と雪

After their father dies, Hana raises two children who can turn into wolves. She moves from the city to a rural house, learning to farm while keeping their secret. As Yuki and Ame grow, each must find a way to live between the human and animal worlds.
Hana cannot learn everything about raising her children in isolation. In the countryside, a neighbour named Nirasaki teaches her to farm, giving her practical help that her unusual family history cannot provide. The story follows thirteen years, so the work of caring for two young children gradually has to make room for decisions they will take for themselves.

Hana wants the move to leave both futures open for her children. That becomes harder when Yuki reaches school age and wants to join other children in the village. Attending means keeping her wolf form hidden in public, so an ordinary first day carries a promise to her mother. The family’s secret changes shape as the children grow: what Hana can manage at home has to meet the expectations of a classroom.
