The Hellsing organisation protects Britain from supernatural threats using a supernatural weapon of its own: the vampire Alucard. He serves the human head of the organisation, Integra Hellsing, while treating monstrous opponents as prey. The conflict expands into a bloody war involving a surviving Nazi force.
Policewoman Seras Victoria enters this world when a mission leaves her mortally wounded and Alucard offers her a vampire’s survival. Joining him does not immediately settle what she has become. Her remaining human instincts have to contend with the appetite that now keeps her alive, giving the organisation’s monster-hunting work a newcomer who is also one of its monsters.

Father Alexander Anderson provides a different challenge in the opening instalment. He confronts Alucard directly, bringing another formidable fighter into a hunt that might otherwise look comfortably one-sided. The grinning priest shown here makes clear that being an enemy of monsters does not make every hunter an ally of Hellsing.
