A notebook-obsessed recruit unsettles a secret superhero team just as networked crowds begin changing who gets to act as a hero.

Hajime Ichinose joins the Gatchaman protecting Tachikawa, but her curiosity challenges their habits of identifying and fighting threats. Crowds and its sequel insight widen that problem from a hidden team to a public using shared power: participation and agreement can have very different consequences.

J.J. Robinson, with white hair and a red-and-black scarf, looks strained against a blue sky.

J.J. Robinson selects the people who receive Gatchaman powers. The familiar superhero question of who can save a city becomes more complicated when power can be distributed through a network. Hajime enters a group accustomed to acting out of sight, while Rui's GALAX system offers a different route for people to coordinate. The licensed premise of insight carries that tension into politics and public judgement. Watch the two television seasons in release order. The extended finale and insight's introductory episode 0 need their own edition labels rather than being silently added to the broadcaster's 24-episode total.
