Kagura Tsuchimiya and Yomi Isayama belong to a world where fighting hostile spirits is both specialised work and a family responsibility. Their closeness grows through a shared home and the demands of exorcism. Before the Ga-Rei manga’s later story, this anime follows the bond between two girls expected to protect other people from what they cannot see.
The opening puts that hidden danger inside a recognisable emergency: a large fire on a Tokyo expressway draws firefighters and a specially equipped response unit. Unusual weapons and detection equipment are needed because the cause is supernatural. Ordinary public safety and the work of exorcists occupy the same damaged streets.

A field operator checks handheld equipment in the dark, surrounded by the practical machinery of a response operation. The series begins by treating a spirit outbreak as something people have prepared systems and tools to confront. That professional setting gives Kagura and Yomi’s inherited duties a wider context, without making their personal ties any less exposed to the work.
