Run with the Wind

風が強く吹いている

Genres:Drama
Haiji smiles in an early indoor scene.

Kakeru is running through the city when Haiji approaches him on a bicycle and asks whether he likes to run. Haiji brings him to an old apartment building with nine residents. The apparently simple offer of a spare room carries an unexpected sporting plan.

The residents are not an established elite squad waiting for one star. Kakeru is being recruited as the tenth man in Haiji’s plan to enter the Hakone relay. The project has to make a team out of people who already share a home but have very different relationships with running.

Four residents talk in a worn room, one wearing a green jacket.

The apartment is a shared home before it becomes a team base. Residents meet in ordinary rooms, wearing mismatched everyday clothes rather than an established club’s uniform. Persuading them to run also changes the terms of the household: the people Kakeru meets cannot simply remain spectators to Haiji’s plan.
