Girls' Last Tour

少女終末旅行

Two helmeted girls sit in a small tracked vehicle inside an industrial ruin.

Two girls travel through a vast abandoned city in a tracked vehicle, finding food, shelter and questions in the remains of an unfamiliar civilisation.

Chito reads and reasons; Yuuri brings appetite and a different kind of directness. Their dependence on one another gives the ruined machinery a human scale, even when the purposes of its builders remain obscure.

Small supplies matter within the city's enormous abandoned structures. (C)つくみず・新潮社/「少女終末旅行」製作委員会

The city supplies enormous structures and very small immediate needs. Fuel, a dry place and something to eat matter before the travellers can interpret the world around them. Their conversations keep curiosity beside practical dependence, rather than turning the ruins into an explanation delivered all at once. The twelve television episodes are this adaptation's endpoint; the manga continues separately, and its ending is not presumed to be part of the anime.
