A new anime awards event, the Nippon Anime Awards, will be held on 21 November 2027 at SGC Hall Ariake in Tokyo. It was announced on 2 November at the close of Tokyo Anime Next, the event run by the Association of Japanese Animations (AJA). The official site gives only the name, date and venue, and says details will follow.
Anime News Network reports that the AJA is behind the awards, and that it aims to create a timeless award that represents Japan.
It arrives after the Tokyo Anime Award Festival ended
The new awards arrive after the Tokyo Anime Award Festival held its last edition in March 2026. Tokyo Anime Next, a one-off event, ran from 30 October to 2 November.
As of 2 November, neither the official page nor that report covers categories, who votes, whether overseas works can enter or how the public can attend.
