Just Like Mona Lisa has released its first main trailer and main visual, with a 2027 television broadcast announced. The 21 October update also names seven additional cast members and previews imase’s ending theme, “Mayoi wa Hikari”.

Based on Tsumuji Yoshimura’s manga, the anime is set in a fictional world where people’s bodies usually change towards their chosen sex during adolescence. Hinase Arima is an 18-year-old who remains genderless. When childhood friends Ritsu and Shiori both confess their feelings, Hinase must navigate a love triangle alongside questions about their own identity.

Chika Anzai voices Hinase. Joining the cast are Yoshino Aoyama, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Daisuke Sakuma, Chiharu, Kakeru Hatano, Haruna Mikawa and Shion Wakayama. The production committee’s announcement leaves their character assignments for a later reveal.

SHAFT produces the animation, with Kana Shundo directing and Yuki Hayashi composing the music. In earlier production comments, Shundo described the manga’s turquoise colouring as a way of expressing otherwise invisible emotions. The new visual carries that colour across its framed character portraits.

The 21 October announcements give 2027, without an exact premiere day or an overseas streaming platform.
