Puella Magi Madoka Magica
魔法少女まどか☆マギカ
Madoka Kaname is an ordinary middle-school student whose life changes when she encounters the world of magical girls. Kyubey offers the possibility of a wish, while an experienced magical girl introduces Madoka and her friend Sayaka to the work that accompanies that offer.
Mami does not ask the two girls to decide without seeing anything: she invites them to accompany her witch hunting. That creates an early interval of observation between an attractive promise and a commitment. Madoka and Sayaka can ask what they might wish for while watching an experienced magical girl carry it out.
Mami's tea table gives the unfamiliar vocation an inviting domestic setting. Cups, plates and a carefully presented host belong to a room where Madoka and Sayaka can sit and listen. That hospitality matters beside the offer of a wish: the life being introduced also has a reassuring, personal face.
