Thousands of players are trapped inside the online fantasy world of Elder Tale. Veteran strategist Shiroe teams up with old friends, then confronts problems that combat knowledge cannot settle: protecting beginners, dealing with powerful guilds and making their city a place where people can live together.
Shiroe’s Enchanter class supports a party; Naotsugu’s Guardian holds the front line and Akatsuki’s Assassin brings another speciality. An early rescue makes their different skills necessary before the story widens into civic problems. A good plan needs people willing to follow it, and Shiroe is less comfortable asking for their trust than he is analysing an opponent. Joining a group makes his expertise useful beyond his own survival.

The Crescent Moon Alliance, led by Marielle, offers the social life that an expedition alone cannot provide. Guild gatherings put drinks, decorations and companions into a world whose players have lost the option of logging out. Younger and less experienced members need more than instructions for the next battle. When Shiroe turns towards the city’s exploitative guilds, those ordinary relationships give the question of safety particular people to protect.
