An outgoing mother and her reserved daughter make a life aboard a boat in a fishing town, bringing very different temperaments into the same small home.
Nikuko's optimism contrasts with Kikuko's more self-conscious view of the people around her. School friendships and the mother's unsettled past complicate the daughter's understanding of their life together.

Sharing a home does not make mother and daughter alike. Nikuko moves through the town with an openness that her daughter does not always find easy to share, while Kikuko is developing relationships and concerns outside the boat. The film places that difference within everyday routines rather than treating family closeness as automatic agreement. Consider it for a mother-and-daughter drama about the distance between how a child sees a parent and what she gradually learns about that parent's life.
