Ein’s Appraiser class leaves him treated as expendable by the adventurers who employ him. When a dungeon trip turns dangerous, his companions abandon him as bait. Survival brings him to Yuri, a spirit of the World Tree, and her protector Ursula, who offer him a way to develop abilities his old party never recognised.

The Spirit Eye and Ursula’s training change what Ein can do, but the help also changes who gets to decide why he uses it. His former party valued him as a convenient tool. With Yuri, power develops through protection and teaching rather than through another order to absorb the danger for someone else.

Zoid and Jolene, members of Ein’s former adventuring party, stand together.

Zoid and Jolene, the former companions shown here, establish the relationship Ein is leaving behind. Yuri’s wish to meet the other World Tree sisters gives his next journey a different purpose. He can use his growing strength to help someone he chooses to travel with, rather than win a place back in the party that discarded him.
