In a solar system linked by warp gates, bounty hunters Spike and Jet travel aboard the Bebop looking for paying work. Faye, young hacker Ed and an unusually intelligent dog join their unsettled household. The crew’s jobs take them between planets while their own histories remain difficult to leave behind.
The first bounty leads Spike and Jet to a man who stole illegal eyedrops from a criminal organisation. He and his girlfriend hope to flee to Mars. What looks like another paying job therefore brings the hunters into contact with two people trying to escape, giving the pursuit a human complication.
The next job concerns a stolen laboratory animal, then a suitcase that changes hands before the hunters can reach it. Finding a bounty requires following other people’s transactions as well as finding the wanted man. The crew’s working life can become tangled in an accident before a confrontation begins.
