When romantic feelings turn schoolboy Daisuke into the confident phantom thief Dark, a family legacy becomes an awkward double life.
Daisuke’s fourteenth birthday brings rejection and an unexpected transformation. His family has prepared him for a tradition of spectacular art theft, but Dark’s confidence does little to simplify the feelings of the boy who becomes him. The contrast ties heists to a romantic tangle: the person Daisuke likes can be fascinated by an identity he cannot straightforwardly claim as his own.

A blushing schoolboy and an unflustered thief offer two very different ways of being seen. The opening encounter places Daisuke’s embarrassment close to the surface, while Dark’s portrait promises the composure he lacks. Because desire helps trigger the change, romance is part of the supernatural mechanism, not an interruption between jobs. That connection gives the thefts and classroom relationships a shared source of trouble.
