An attempt to seal the destructive dragon Dagan Zot fails after outside interference. Years later, Hiiro sets out to avenge the parents he lost in that disaster. Carrying a large sword gives his ambition a clear direction without guaranteeing that he understands the forces around it.
The quest crosses a continent of rival powers and magic, placing a personal grievance inside conflicts other people also want to exploit. Hiiro has to distinguish the goal he inherited from the practical ability to pursue it. Travelling companions make that difference harder to ignore.

The adult supporting a child gives the dragon story a consequence beyond a legendary monster. Hiiro’s journey begins with a loss that happened before he could direct events himself. Taking up a sword is an attempt to act on that history, with the help and expectations of others still around him.
