Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious

The novice goddess Ristarte summons Seiya Ryuuguuin to save the extremely dangerous world of Gaeabrande. His exceptional abilities look like the answer she needs, but he refuses to begin until he considers the preparations sufficient. Training, extra equipment and more spares keep taking the place of departure.

The comic conflict gives two partners different definitions of readiness. Ristarte sees a powerful hero and a waiting world; Seiya can always identify another way things might go wrong. The second episode gives delay a cost when he returns to the divine realm to train while villagers face violence below. The early absurdity therefore sits beside consequences for people who cannot choose the same retreat.

Ristarte leans over an armoured Seiya, who looks up at her with a guarded expression.

Ristarte’s role is more than choosing a strong candidate. When a battle forces them to retreat to the divine realm, she has to deal with a hero who responds by demanding still more preparation. The close-up puts her attention beside his guarded expression: their progress depends on an exasperating partnership as well as his statistics.
