Kazuki dies trying to protect a stranger, then wakes with an alchemical heart that can become a weapon against the human-eating creatures now pursuing him.
Tokiko saves Kazuki with a kakugane, replacing the heart he lost and giving him a place in a conflict he did not know existed. The schoolboy’s new lance makes him capable of fighting homunculi, but it also ties his second chance at life to the world of alchemical warriors. His willingness to help has an immediate consequence: the person he tried to rescue becomes the person who must teach him how to survive.

The oversized geometric lance gives Kazuki’s new role a visible form. He has not simply found a weapon; the power comes from the object keeping him alive. Learning to use it therefore follows directly from accepting the life Tokiko restored. That connection gives the battles a personal stake before the story expands its cast of enemies and allies, and makes the developing partnership more specific than a routine transfer into a secret organisation.
