Michiru Kagemori was human until she suddenly became a tanuki beastwoman. Fleeing persecution, she reaches Anima-City, a place founded so beastmen can live as themselves. The wolf beastman Shirou Ogami knows the city’s dangers far better than she does and has little patience for her claim that she used to be human.

Finding refuge does not immediately give Michiru proof of who she is. Her stolen student identification makes even that claim difficult to establish, while the city’s dealings expose conflicts within the community she expected to offer freedom. Learning how to live there and discovering why her body changed become connected parts of the same search.

Marie leans forward to speak with Michiru among trees under purple light.

Michiru’s meeting with the beastwoman Marie puts another local’s confidence beside a newcomer’s uncertainty. Michiru arrives with the expectation that crossing into Anima-City will make her safe; people who already know its streets understand that a special district still has its own risks. Her tanuki body may let her enter this community, but understanding its rules is work she has only begun.
