Abandoned by his employer after a kidnapping, a Japanese office worker joins the armed delivery crew that captured him and enters a criminal port city’s economy.

Rock brings a corporate employee’s habits into work conducted with guns, bargaining and unstable loyalties. Revy, Dutch and Benny already know the practical rules of this environment; he has to discover what his old assumptions are worth there. The first series builds its action around the uneasy fit between a new recruit and an established crew.

Rock’s bruised face makes the change in employment look far less glamorous than an escape from office life. Revy’s confrontational expression supplies the other side of that adjustment: the crew is not waiting to become comfortable for him. The port and its jobs create space for both negotiation and violence, so the appeal rests on how these people work together under pressure.
