Pitcher Ren Mihashi reaches high school convinced that he held his old team back. Family influence put him on the mound, and the resentment that followed destroyed his confidence. A new baseball club gives him a catcher and teammates who can assess his pitching for themselves.
Ren's control is useful only if he can trust another player enough to use it in a game. The partnership with catcher Abe makes conversation and cooperation part of every delivery. Starting over therefore involves a different way of understanding a pitcher's responsibility to the people around him.

The glove and uniform identify the pitcher, while the second image gives his unease a more exposed expression. The gap between those two aspects of Mihashi is central to his new start. His teammates need to discover what he can do without repeating the treatment that taught him to distrust his own place on the mound.
