Shotaro discovers boys' rhythmic gymnastics near the end of junior high and enters Aoshukan High determined to try it. The club includes experienced older pupils and a young star he has already admired. Becoming part of their performance asks him to learn how individual movement belongs to a group.
The team needs coordination as well as each gymnast's physical ability. Practice brings Shotaro into a small circle whose ambitions depend on working together, leaving little room for a newcomer to remain merely a spectator. Setbacks and disagreements have to be handled by the people who will eventually perform as one unit.

Papers and club tracksuits put the shared routine into its planning stage. Shotaro enters a group that already has experienced performers and an ambition of its own. Learning the movements is one task; understanding how decisions and corrections pass between its members is another part of becoming someone the formation can include.
