University student Yuki, who is deaf, meets fellow student Itsuomi when she needs help. He takes her hearing difference in his stride, and his experience of travelling catches her interest. Their growing attraction also requires finding ways to communicate that work for both of them.
Yuki already has her own life and friendships when Itsuomi enters it. Getting closer means sharing something of those surroundings, rather than treating a new relationship as the beginning of her existence. Friends' different expectations of care and independence complicate the apparently simple question of how to approach one another.

The group composition places Yuki and Itsuomi near the front without removing everyone around them. Their introduction grows into a relationship within an existing social circle, where friends can encourage, misunderstand or worry about a new attachment. Communicating a feeling therefore involves more than finding the right words or signs for one private conversation.
