Salaryman Takeru Kamishiro is offered a new life on Madeus, a world of swords and magic. Along with an unusually strong body, he receives Search, an ability that locates valuable materials. Collecting those resources gives him a way to earn a living while exploring his new surroundings.
The journey also acquires companions, including the young dragon Bee and the elf Brolite. Gathering gives these encounters a destination beyond wandering through a fantasy world: each request asks Takeru to put his knowledge and growing circle of allies to work somewhere new.
Knowing where something lies does not make reaching it safe. An early request sends Takeru after mithril ore in a mountain inhabited by a dangerous monster. His useful gift consequently turns into a practical job: find what someone needs, enter the place where it grows or lies buried, and bring it back.
