Hotaru has family and friends she values, but little interest in romance. Offering her umbrella to Hananoi after he is rejected leads to an unexpected confession from him. A small act of kindness leaves her facing a relationship whose meaning she has not yet worked out.

What is unfamiliar is the romantic expectation Hananoi attaches to their closeness, and the question of how to respond without simply adopting someone else’s idea of love.
